Socceroo Harry Kewell could be sidelined for several weeks by injury.
According to reports, the 31-year-old Australian, who has been in wonderful form with 14 goals for Galatasaray this season, has re-injured a pre-existing adductor problem and now faces two months on the sidelines.
Kewell suffered the blow in Galatasaray's recent 3-0 Kupasi win over Orduspor, which saw the Socceroo replaced at half-time.
Galatasaray reported on their official website that Kewell had this week been receiving treatment for the injury which is believed to be a second-degree tear.
Kewell's post-World Cup future is cloudy, with his Galatasaray contract expiring, but French club Olympique Marseille has reportedly indicated it wants to sign Kewell, possibly during this month's transfer window.
There has also been reported interest from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg and several English Premier League outfits.
More pressing for Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek is Kewell's recovery in time for the World Cup.
Verbeek has been experimenting with Kewell as a lone striker to give the Socceroos more attacking options in South Africa.
Kewell's extended stint on the sidelines could take up to two months which would leave him two to three months to regain match fitness and form with his club side before the World Cup.
What do you think of Kewell's latest injury and will he recover in time for the World Cup?
