Jobs gone as car dealer shuts shop

4/12/2008 1:00:00 AM
MOMENTS before United Holden Rockdale closed its doors for the last time last Friday, the Leader was able to gather together the

service and pre-delivery section of the business for a final picture.

About 70 people have been forced to look for other work after the business, in operation since September 2002, ceased trading.

Staff were told of their axing last month.

Service manager of three years Michael Harb, who managed 30-plus staff, said he was ``gutted'' when told.

``I was like a baby,'' Mr Harb said.

``I was crying like a little girl.

``What do you do? I've put a lot of time into this place trying to turn it around.

``It has been hard knowing that we won't have a job, but everyone has pulled through unbelievably.

``I am going to try and get a services manger position and, if I get in, hopefully some of these guys will end up with me.''
