Crash scene: A helicopter lands on Morgan Street, Kingsgrove after an accident.
A CAREFLIGHT helicopter flew to the aid of a cyclist who collided with a car at Kingsgrove on Sunday night, a CareFlight spokesman said.
The collision left a man, 46, unconscious after he was thrown several metres.
A doctor at the scene said his helmet cracked and saved his life.
The man was taken by road ambulance to St George in a serious but stable condition.
The driver of the car crashed into a power pole after the collision with the cyclist and was taken to hospital with minor injuries after they were freed from the car.
