A MAN stabbed several times after leaving a Hurstville restaurant with friends on Saturday night remains in a stable condition at St George Hospital.
Hurstville police said witnesses told them they saw a group of up to 10 men fighting on Macmahon Street, close to the intersection of Park Road.
Several blood stains were found on the footpath where witnesses alleged there was a fight.
Police said they were not yet sure if there was a second assault, after they found puddles and splatters of blood leading up Woodville Street to Park Road.
Police only identified the victim after he presented himself to St George Hospital with friends.
Two crime scenes were set up on Macmahon and Woodville Streets.
Detective Inspector Terry O'Neill said it was unclear what happened and why, and whether there were seperate assaults.
He said police planned speak to the victim at hospital yesterday today and hoped his information would help with investigations.
‘‘Hurstville detectives are seeking assistance from anyone who might have been on Forest Road, Woodville Street, Macmahon Street or Park road, Hurstville about 10pm on Saturday,’’ he said.
Officers released one man arrested at the scene, pending further investigations.
