Thieves ram raid Riverwood Hotel for cigarettes

07 Feb, 2012 02:38 PM
POLICE are appealing for information after a cigarette machine was stolen during a ram raid at Riverwood this morning.

Campsie police said two men in a Silver Suburu Forrester smashed through the front glass doors of the Riverwood Inn on Josephine Street about 6am.

A cleaner working in the restaurant stayed out the back of the hotel until the offenders left.

Security footage showed the two men reverse the car into the hotel, crashing into several chairs and tables.

They took a cigarette machine and forced it into the boot of the car before driving out of the main entrance onto Josephine Street.

The car was last seen travelling east towards Bonds Road, Riverwood.

Police said the men were only described as wearing dark clothes.

Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000

More money to be made stealing and reselling cigarettes than robbing a bank. And if caught a lighter sentence.
