Sharkies leagues club's Summertime Bar is the venue for this weekend's Southern Orchid Spectacular an annual event featuring rare and fabulous species from around the world.

The fair is organised jointly by the Orchid Society of NSW and Sutherland Shire and Eastern Suburbs orchid societies.

Organising committee president Murray Aldridge said hundreds of beautiful flowering orchids would be on show and available for purchase.

"Since it started in 2005, the fair has established itself as one of the leading orchid events in NSW,'' he said. "It is run and supported by local growers, while the 20 vendors come from throughout Australia.

"They will display the latest in seedling and flowering plants, with something suitable for everyone, from the keenest expert through to someone who would love to take a beautiful plant home to enjoy.''

The fair is on from 10am-4pm on Friday and

Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sunday.

Admission is $5.
