 Airing those old home movies

Airing those old home movies

05 Oct, 2009 05:00 AM
HOME movies are fondly recalled and affectionately remembered, but rarely seen. They tend to gather dust in storage spaces, seldom making their way onto the silver screen for which they were initially intended.

Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Art Centre at Gymea aims to change that by holding a Home Movie Day in Sutherland Shire.

The annual international event that celebrates amateur films and filmmaking offers people the chance to screen, share, and discuss their family films.

Home movies are fascinating social, cultural and historical documents.

If you have any hidden away which are still in usable condition, bring them along to the Home Movie Day.

The gallery has screening facilities for 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm films.

Drop off your films at Hazelhurst on Saturday, October 10, between 10am and 2pm so they can be cleaned and prepared for projection.

The films will be shown from 2pm until 4.30pm, on Saturday, October 17, in the theatrette.

Inquiries: Maija Howe, 0412528461.
