Art in the house

GETTING work hung in a gallery can sometimes be difficult, as galleries have certain guidelines which not all artists can meet. And then there is the expense of framing.

So Kathy Curtiss and five fellow artists have opted for their own show in a private home.

They plan to display at least 50 works landscapes, still lifes, abstracts, pencil drawings and to have a lot of fun in the process.

``This is a unique approach to marketing local art by selling at more acceptable prices and minimising overheads,'' Mrs Curtiss said. ``Hence the `no frills' approach.''

Prices start at $20 and lay-buys are available with a 25percent deposit.

If required, artworks can be delivered anywhere free in Sutherland Shire.

No Frills Art Sellout is happening on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16, at 17A Ash Avenue, Caringbah South, between 9am and 4pm. Admission is free.
