Chinese New Year: Enjoy Hong Kong's blockbusters

06 Feb, 2010 11:25 AM
HURSTVILLE City Council is inviting the community to come and enjoy a selection of blockbuster films during the Hurstville Chinese New Year Hong Kong Film Festival (February 15-26).

Mayor Phillip Sansom said the community would be able to see some of Hong Kong's most popular and memorable films.

``The council is partnering with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office to show the films this summer as part of our Hurstville Chinese New Year celebrations,'' he said.

``Following on from the incredible success of last year's inaugural week-long film festival, the event has been expanded and will run for two weeks.''

The festival will screen movies in the historical, action, drama and cartoon genres, including Red Cliff by renowned Hollywood director and producer, John Woo.

The festival at the Civic Theatre, MacMahon Street, Hurstville, will screen:

Red Cliff: historical/action; February 15, 16 and 17 at 7pm.

Forever Enthralled: drama; February 18, 22 and 23 at 7pm.

McDull Kung Fu Ding Ding Dong: children's cartoon; screens on February 20, 21 and 27 at 5pm.

Warlords: action; February 24, 25 and 26 at 7pm.

Tickets are $2.50, free for children under five.

Bookings: Danny Hau at dhau@hurstville.nsw.gov.au or 9330 6233. Provide your full name, address, contact number and session times.
