FOR believers, psychic medium Ezio De Angelis plugs into a world most people cannot see.
That world is populated by people who were alive once, but are not so any more.
For those who do believe there is life after this life, there is a lot of comfort to be had by delving into this world.
De Angelis, 50, has an army of followers.
Just ask the regulars who attend his shows at Kareela Golf Club.
His job is all about providing comfort to those who have lost people they love, he says.
It's about passing messages, basic healing and shedding light on the continuous existence of the human soul.
The messages tend not to be of the world-shattering variety because "spirits are just people and some are better communicators than others".
A simple message such as "your father knows that Bobby's been sick" or "your husband is sorry about the way he behaved" is enough to ease the pain of loss.
De Angelis reckons that even the most diehard sceptics can't help being curious about what happens after death and he likes to provide as much proof as he can about the other world.
In his next book, Postcards from the Other Side, co-authored by wife Michelle, one of the stories he tells is about Todd, a young man who was stabbed at Campbelltown 18 months ago, and how he has been able to prove his continuous existence to his family by the information he has provided. The book will be published in June.
"My work removes the idea that death is the end," said De Angelis, who has seen and heard people from the other side since he was a small boy.
Brought up Catholic in the Bankstown area, De Angelis more or less ignored his emerging psychic skills, became a carpenter and worked his way into corporate services management in organisations such as the Chase Manhattan Bank.
But the spirits wouldn't leave him alone until he was forced to give this other aspect of himself more attention.
He has been a full-time medium since 2004.
The Australian Psychics Association voted him the 2012 Australian Psychic of the Year and his television, radio, magazine and teaching work continues.
De Angelis has been doing six to nine shows a year at Kareela Golf Club since 2007 and will continue to do so. His first appearance for 2012 will be at 7.30pm, Friday, February 3.
