Love triangle can be a tangle

Love triangle can be a tangle

A BATTLE of the wits in the hope of wooing women is not an uncommon event in St George and Sutherland Shire pubs and clubs.

But Andrew Chambers of Kirrawee has taken the contest a step further by producing art that reflects the life of young people in the shire today.

My Thoughts Exactly is a short film set in a nightclub where two young men try to win the favour of a brunette.

Mr Chambers wrote and directed a story he said was "close to home".

"It's a story about two friends who can read each other's minds and compete for the same girl," he said.

"I have friends who are a lot like that; who always know what I'm thinking."

Rachel Oliver, Paul Layton, Chris Vernon form the three corners of the love triangle in My Thoughts Exactly, which was filmed at the AKA Nightclub and Lounge Bar in Sutherland.

The work is one of three short films which Chambers hopes to produce in a bid to win funding for a feature-length production.

The second and third of his shorts are set to take on the action and thriller genres.

"I'm just a big fan of making movies," Chambers said.

"I'm hoping that by the end of next month we can have a final cut and can submit it to all the different film festivals.

"We might be kids from the shire but we have a lot of chutzpah; a lot of talent."
