YOU can eat out every night but there seems to be something special about a weekend afternoon with Sicilian food, Sicilian music and the deep blue sea in the background.
Well, the Sicilian music isn't quite right.
The owner of The Vanguard at Cronulla, John Casaceli, was a blues musician before he became a restaurateur, and a blues musician he remains.
So the entertainment is likely to be swamp, soul and R&B on a Sunday when Mr Casaceli is likely to bring out his guitar and play with The Dukes.
Saturday afternoons are for the jazz-and-swing king Jeff Duff who can sound like Tom Jones one minute and David Bowie the next.
The bit about the Sicilian food is right, however, as the Casaceli family came from Lipari, just off Sicily.
With the help of his grandmother Diana and mother Angelina, Mr Casaceli has dug into family recipes to get an authentic taste.
His menu is extensive yet there is nothing over $25.
The antipasti section contains such treats as zucchini fritters on toasted ciabatta, stuffed eggplant, fried zucchini flowers filled with three cheeses and polpetti with sarsa semplice.
For primi, choices include king prawns, squid, fish and mussels in a creamy tomato lobster soup; ricotta and salami sweetcrust pie with wild rocket; beef and pork belly ragout; Sicilian fish cous cous with a toasted almond sauce; and a variety of pasta dishes.
Secondi include a 400-gram char-grilled T-bone steak; pan-seared swordfish with almond pesto, great with a side dish of fennel and orange salad; and veal medallions pan-fried with marsala and sicilian style peppers.
There is a $15 pizza and beer deal, noon-6pm.
