ROCK Mortar Thai Eatery at Peakhurst is celebrating their 12 months of providing top Thai tucker.
In the year since owner Siwaporn Bundao, along with chef Nattawut Rachapet, opened Rock Mortar Thai Eatery at 29B Ogilvy Street, happy customers who keep returning for money bags, miang prawns, Tom Yum soup, duck salad, massaman curries and may more choice menu items are testament to the restaurant's continuing success.
At Rock Mortar Thai, starters include the above-mentioned money bags pastry "bags'' filled with minced chicken and vegetables and served with a sweet chilli sauce and miang prawns, a seasonal special served on betel leaves, consisting of a combination of diced king prawns with lime, ginger, onion, peanuts and grated coconut, plus a sweet sauce.
Another special entree is herbed duck, in which the chopped duck is is tossed with red onions, mint leaves, shallots, ground rice and kaffir lime leaves with a Thai dressing. The dish is served in cos lettuce cups.
A standout seasonal special main dish is Tom Yum fried rice with traditional Thai hot-and-sour flavours, and king prawns and crab meat mixed with the rice.
Those hot-and-sour flavours are also a feature of the Tom Yum soup.
When dining with friends, banquet menus from $24.90 per person simplify the process of choosing what dishes to get.
The BYO restaurant is open for dinner from 5.30pm Tuesdays to Sundays, and offers a takeaway service and free home delivery to local areas for orders over $20.
