Graffiti youth nabbed with help from the public

Sutherland Police arrested a male Kirrawee youth, 17, yesterday for graffiti offences after a tip off from people living near by.

Residents told police were they saw someone spray painting graffiti on rail sound barriers between Sutherland and Kirrawee stations at 5pm.

Police found two teenagers with spray cans nearby.

They arrested the 17-year-old and took him to Sutherland Police Station for further inquries but later released him.

He returned to Sutherland Police station with his mother at about 11.30pm and admitted spraying the graffiti.

Police gave him a youth caution for malicious damage, possessing spray paint cans and entering railway lands.
