OATLEY Flora and Fauna Conservation Society is holding its annual general meeting on February 6. Graham Austin and Janet Austin are both retiring from the board after 11 years of service. The society is looking for new members and anyone interested in joining the board.

PUBLIC submissions to steer the future of local government in NSW are due by Wednesday, February 15. Representatives from councils across the state met in August 2011 to contribute towards a plan for what local government should look like in coming decades. The resulting draft ‘‘Destination 2036 Action Plan’’ is on public exhibition. Key goals in the plan include better communication between councils, reducing red tape and making sure councils are financially sustainable.
