Why is St George and Sutherland Shire the best place in the world to live?
We have some of the most beautiful and free landscapes on our doorstep, and the quality of life here is amazing.
How has the region changed in your lifetime?
It has become more developed and there are more and more units going up where there were houses. Although this is good for the economy, it comes at the price of more concrete and less natural scenery.
What would you like to see more of?
Child obesity in Australia is at its peak, so I would like to see more schools integrating fun sports such as mobile rock climbing into their curriculum.
Do you have a favourite spot you like to visit or a favourite local restaurant, cafe or shop?
I love to be outdoors taking a walk in the local bushland or having a picnic and swim at the beach.
What do you enjoy reading the most in your Leader?
I always scan the restaurant section first as I love to eat! I like to read reviews and see different deals and menus that shire restaurants are offering.
Has any particular story you have read stuck in your memory?
The one about Sutherland Hospital being baby-friendly. My daughter Zarah and I were born there.
What are you looking forward to this year?
Introducing rock climbing to as many people as possible and showing them that exercise doesn't have to be boring.
What is one thing you wish you were better at?
Nothing. Half the fun is working towards a goal.
What is the best part of your role?
I get to meet lots of new people and have fun doing what I love: rock climbing.
I enjoy seeing people who lack confidence in their ability to climb the wall surpass their own expectations.
If you could time travel, where would you go?
Actually I'm happy right here and now. However, it would be cool to meet some of the brilliant minds of the past such as Einstein, Da Vinci or Ghandi.
