POKER players Jai Kemp and Brad Collins say it takes little time to master the game.
Both have been playing for three years at the Engadine Bowling Club and are now in Auckland, NZ, for the Asia Pacific Poker Tour to October 12 run by the online site Poker Stars.
This is the second year Mr Kemp, 34, from Woronora Heights, has participated in the tour after coming fifth out of 556 at the grand final in Sydney last year.
His family has accompanied him and Mr Kemp said their presence helps him play better.
"I think that's why I went so well in Sydney,'' he said.
"I was playing poker for 13 hours a day but then could go home and see the wife and kids,'' he said.
"I think I'm at the top of my game at the moment ... so I should do well.''
Mr Collins, 24, of Engadine, who is at his first professional tournament, said of his chances: ``Out of 650, the odds would be around 325 to one. I would be happy to make it through the first day.''
