Photographer in the spirit

TASMANIA is known for its beauty and its abundance of rain. Michelle Orme, of Sans Souci, captured both in a stunning photograph that has been entered into the inaugural Capture the Spirit photographic competition.

Taken at the entrance to Cradle Mountain, Ms Orme has called her photograph After the Rain.

"I think we only had two nice days out of the eight we were there,'' Ms Orme said.

"When we got there I think they'd just had two weeks of solid rain, so there was a lot of water around. The waterfalls were just spectacular at this time.''

Ms Orme, a corporate travel consultant, said she took the photograph at the beginning of September while on holiday with her partner.

She said she was only an amateur and was being taught by her partner who is a keen photographer.

Organised by the ferry company Spirit of Tasmania, the competition is open until the end of November for anyone to enter photographs they have taken while on holiday on the Apple Isle.
