Public meeting on Kurnell homes plan

09 Feb, 2010 12:00 AM
NORTH Cronulla residents who are concerned about plans for housing on Kurnell land owned by Australand and Breen Holdings will be among those to attend a public meeting on Thursday.

North Cronulla Precinct Residents Committee chairman Ian Sinclair said the original exhibition for the plans by the State Government and Sutherland Shire Council was during the Christmas holiday period.

``Many residents will be unaware of the scale of the proposal and the likely impact the required works will have on the area,'' Mr Sinclair said.

``For the people who have been in a position to consider making a submission, they have been confronted with hundreds of pages of technical data, reports, submissions etc on the NSW Government and [council] website.

``This is not considered as informing the community or residents of the proposal.''

The submission period for the council has been extended to February 19, but residents want it extended even later so there is a chance for them to understand the

information now available.

The meeting on Thursday will be held at the community centre in Cronulla Plaza.
