ATTEMPTS to save the floundering North Ramsgate Amateur Swimming Club have done little to change the situation.
President Phil Dean said a number of inquiries were received after the Leader revealed before Christmas that the historic club was down to only eight active swimmers and was fighting for its survival.
However, only two new members had joined.
Mr Dean said he was also interviewed on radio 2GB as a result of the report and Dick Caine, at Carss Park swimming pool, where the club meets each Sunday, was also trying to help.
"We will continue with the present season, which concludes on March 18, and then decide the future of the club," he said.
Founded in 1932, it is one of the oldest swimming clubs in NSW and originally was at Pemberton's Ramsgate Indoor Baths on the corner of The Grand Parade and Ramsgate Road (now Coles).
The club is open to people of all ages and abilities, and races are handicapped.
