WHEN 11-year-old Jasper Baker from Peakhurst discovered that his loved uncle had multiple sclerosis, the young man became determined to do everything he could to help.
Jasper's labour of love will be realised this weekend when he competes in the 94- kilometre MS Sydney to the Gong Bike Ride.
The athletic boy has been doing lots of exercise in the lead-up, with membership of Brighton Nippers and Peakhurst United Soccer Club ensuring he is in tip-top condition.
"Jasper's uncle, Gordon Reid, is a teacher in Kuala Lumpur,'' Jasper's mother Melissa explained.
"He was recently in Sydney receiving MS therapy and Jasper was determined to help Gordon.''

Sans Souci residents, Maria Karantonis, 45, and Peter Karantonis, 45, are members of ``Team Xtreme'' who were inspired to do the ride for a friend who has multiple sclerosis and is paralysed from the neck down.
The team of 10 has raised $13500, which Mrs Karantonis hopes will give her friend a boost.
"The family is going through a difficult time. I can't visit her any more she is bedridden and does not want people to see her any more,'' Mrs Karantonis said. "She is an inspiration for anyone thinking they are having a bad day.
"She always cracked a smile or joke despite what she is going through.
"This is something we can do from a distance.''
The 90-kilometre ride will start from St Peters, go through Brighton-Le-Sands and Sutherland Shire and continue through the Royal National Park and along coastal roads to Wollongong.
More than 10,000 cyclists will participate this year and they hope to beat last year's fund-raising of about $2 million.
Money goes to specialist services, professional advice and treatment programs for those living with multiple sclerosis.
