POLICE are investigating after a violent fight broke out between players and parents at a rugby league match at Blaxland Oval, Menai yesterday afternoon.
It is believed players came off the field mid way through the Sunday game about 12.30pm following an incident on the sidelines and a number of punches were thrown.
A witness said the father of a player went over to a group of people sitting behind the goal posts.
A short time later the witness then said he saw the man ‘‘finger pointing , swearing’’ and later started making threats.
It is believed police turned up about 10 minutes later in four cars and a wagon.
Police said they were investigating the matter but did not say who had been arrested or if any charges had been laid.
