THREE schools in St George will receive a share of more than $76,000 in the latest round of federal government funding that aims to make schools more environmentally friendly.

Kingsgrove High School, St George School and Bexley Public School were included in the national solar schools program.

Kingsgrove High School and St George School received $33,000, and Bexley Public School received $10,636.

Funds will go towards the installation of solar panels that will help conserve energy use at each school.

A total of 784 schools nationwide, and more than 263 schools in NSW, received the grants of up to $50,000. Applications for the final round of the program will open on Monday, February 13.
