Tourism experts head to the shire

09 Mar, 2011 12:09 PM
Sutherland Shire Council is hosting the 2011 Local Government and Shires Association Tourism Conference at Engadine Community Centre from today, the first time it has been held in the shire.

The event which runs from March 9 to 11, will address tourism issues pertinent to mayors, councillors and council management.

More than 200 delegates will hear case studies from local operators including Cronulla and National Park Ferry Cruises, Royal Coast Walks and Oyster Bay Bed and Breakfast.

The conference comes as shire operators get ready to take on the world.

For the first time, five shire operators will attend this year’s Australian Tourism Exchange next month, an invitation-only trade fair where they will network with inclinational tourism buyers.

What do you think needs to be done to promote tourism in the shire?
