Waterfront bidders go straight to point

05 Jul, 2009 05:00 AM
WATERFRONT houses in Sutherland Shire are receiving attention once again following the sale of a Kangaroo Point mansion last weekend.

The mansion sold for a 2009 record of $4.67million, an indication the top end of real estate market has regained confidence.

After 80 groups of potential buyers inspected the new five-bedroom house, competition came down to four registered bidders at the auction on Saturday.

A family from St George bought the dwelling, which sits on 1296 square metres and has two designer pools.

Kieran Bresnahan from McGrath Estate Agents said the result showed the "market there was not too bad''.

In April, another house on the same street sold for $3.15 million the second-most expensive in the suburb sold at auction so far this year, as recorded by Australian Property Monitors.

Residex reveals the median house price in the area is slightly lower than last year.
