VETERAN Dylan Macallister has signed with Rockdale City Suns and looks set to revive his football career.
With more than decade worth of professional experience, Macallister's inclusion comes as timely boost for the Suns, who continue to move away from the bottom of the premiership ladder.
Macallister joined the Suns after a tumultuous one-year stint for the now-defunct A-League club Gold Coast United.
"It was a crazy year and I'd never experienced some of that stuff before," Macallister said.
"Financial problems happened to me before at Northern Spirit.
"But with [United's] coach being fired and then losing their licence it was a tough year.
"There was a lot of emotion being thrown around."
Macallister looked set to re-sign with Gold Coast, until owner Clive Palmer and Football Federation Australia came to blows.
A hamstring injury also meant he missed a large chunk of the season.
"If I want to find a new club I have to prove to myself and other people that I am fit and available," Macallister, 30, said.
"I think any player playing in the state league should have the ambition to make the next step up.
"My priorities are getting fit and getting to a stage where I can play week-to-week with Rockdale."
Macallister celebrated his debut for the club with a 4-0 win against Blacktown Spartans at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday.
The forward came off the bench and played the final 30 minutes of the game after coach Mark Rudan had approached him to join the club on a one-year contract.
"He is a friend of mine," Macallister said.
"He spoke about my plans and they fitted in with his."
Macallister is eyeing a spot in the new west Sydney A-League team, or possibly a move to Asia.
