Pirates kick into indoor league

ST GEORGE and Sutherland Shire will be represented for the first time in the up-and-coming NSW Football futsalSuper League competition.

The Super League will see 14 teams across NSW compete in the indoor football matches.

Botany Bay Pirates based at Rockdale PCYC and Sutherland Sharks Football Club, who will play home games at Menai Indoor Sports Centre, will take part in the league for the first time.

The winners of Super League will have the opportunity to be considered for promotion into the top-tier Premier League competition which involves eight sides.

The season will start on September 27 and conclude in February.

Former Argentinian international Hector Martinez has been appointed as Sutherland's Futsal technical director, which will see him coach the all-age men's team, under-16 and under-19 boys' sides.

Both clubs will enter teams in the Football NSW Futsal State Championships.

Trials will be held on Saturday August 9, in the following age groups: under-12 boys, under-13 girls, under-14 boys, under-16 girls, under-16 boys, under-19 men, all-age men and women.
