LIVING, breathing and training with people whose ultimate goal is to knock you out has presented a surreal environment for those on reality television show The Contender.

Nader Hamdan, of Kingsgrove, progressed to the next round of the competition with a win over Australian middleweight champion Les Piper in the bout shown last Monday night.

"It has been a great experience and something I'll never forget,'' Hamdan said. "I'm watching the show now and I can't stop laughing.''

One of the more interesting characters in the show has been Sonni Michael Angelo who Hamdan describes as a "cool cat''. Episode four to be shown on Monday is the most dramatic and controversial episode to date.
