Dragons face do-or-die battle

14 Sep, 2009 11:55 AM
A RED-HOT Parramatta side survived the first week of the finals with an impressive victory against St George Illawarra at WIN Jubilee Oval yesterday.

The Eels withstood an opening onslaught from the Dragons and eventually scored the first try of the match through Luke Burt.

Parramatta went into the half-time break with a four-point lead and increased that margin midway through the second stanza with Eric Grothe crossing.

A 70th minute try to Brett Morris gave the homeside some hope but a field goal to Burt and a try to Jarryd Hayne in the final moments of the game gave the Eels a 25-12 win.

St George Illawarra will now face Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night while the Eels will play Gold Coast in Sydney on Friday.

The next best thing to watching the Sharks win is to see St.George lose. Saints always have and always will be chokers.

For that ignorrant shark supporter.if St.George are chokers how many grand finals or premierships have the sharks won.that's right you can't count zero as a number. The sharks are embrassing and should be playing metropolitan cup or park footy. Only gold coast, cowboys and the warriors haven't won oneas they have only been in for a short time not 42 yrs.St.George Illawarra haven't either but we are still Dragons play at Kogarah and have the Big Red V not those black arm bands like the Gold Fish in the shire.

hooseddat, I like how you slag on the sharks about not winning a title then do a back flip and remember stgeorge-illawarra haven't won one ither. Also sharks didn't have to merge with another team just to stay in the comp.
