GRANT Millington and Blake Ferguson each scored spectacular tries on Monday.
While the big winger, after three tries, didn't have to ask, Millington still wasn't sure yesterday if he'd be playing against his old club, the Roosters, on Saturday night at the Sydney Football Stadium.
A second-grade reject from the Roosters last year, Millington survives financially by the number of first grade games coach Ricky Stuart puts him in. He's played seven of the 15 in first grade.
"Yep, no contract, just the minimum wage and match payments," he said.
His insecurity saw the big backrower excel against the Broncos in Cronulla's 46-12 win at Toyota Stadium, scoring two tries himself.
In his first try, Millington left five bruised rivals in his wake.
Only 22 years old and now injury-free, Millington wants the chance to show the Roosters they should have played him in the NRL, before Stuart called him over to the Sharks last year.
"And beat them for five straight wins," he added.
He should not worry, even if Paul Gallen recovers from Origin II.
When Millington came off the field on Monday night, Stuart, another former Rooster, patted him on the back with: "Terrific game ... the best one for us".
Stuart will finalise his winning squad after checking the fitness of Gallen and fellow Origin star Trent Barrett tomorrow.
