Michael Weyman joins fellow representative players Jeremy Smith and Beau Scott and in-form forward Mickey Paea on St George Illawarra's growing injury list.
Smith (ankle), Scott (elbow) and Paea (virus) are not expected back for at least two weeks, and Weyman (ankle) will miss six matches.
Weyman has been in superb form for the Dragons since joining the club from Canberra. After a stint at the Raiders plagued by injury and suspension he played just 47 games in six years. Weyman has played 13 matches for the Dragons this year.
"It's disappointing to be out this time of year but there is a lot more football to be played,'' Weyman said. "I'll do everything I can off the field to get back on as quick as I can.''
The prop forward originally rolled his ankle in the second State of Origin clash last Wednesday.
He lasted less than 20 minutes in the Dragons' 21-10 win over Wests Tigers on Friday night.
Initially Weyman rejected the attention of Dragons' trainers before succumbing to the injury.
"It was just one of those things that I thought if I kept going on my foot it might come good but it is one of those injuries that don't come good,'' Weyman said. "It's going to take a little bit of rest and rehab and I'll come back bigger and better.'' The injury also has ruled Weyman out of the third State of Origin match.
St George Illawarra return to WIN Jubilee Oval to face Sydney Roosters tomorrow night.
Jon Green replaces Weyman at prop while under-20s player Trent Merrin will take his spot on the bench.
Coach Wayne Bennett his shifted backrower Matt Prior into the centres with Prior and lock Neville Costigan set to share the role, swapping in attack and defence.
"[The Roosters] are a great side,'' Weyman said. "They had a good win on the weekend and it will be a real strong battle for us.''
In other news, New Zealand international Nathan Fien, granted an early release from the New Zealand Warriors, links up with St George Illawarra on Monday. Fien, 29, was set to join the Dragons on a three-year deal next season. Coach Wayne Bennett said the half or hooker will offer the club "versatility''.
