ST GEORGE Illawarra representative prop Michael Weyman, in outstanding form before he was injured, is set to extend his stay with the club for a further three years.
The Leader understands that Weyman who was off-contract at the end of next season could ink a new deal before he makes his comeback.
A fitness test later today will determine if Weyman joins his teammates on a plane to New Zealand when the squad fly out tomorrow for Sunday's game against the Warriors.
Weyman, 24, was hopeful his ankle would pull up OK following a rigorous rehabilitation session on Tuesday. "It feels pretty good but I've just got to wait and see how it pulls up,'' Weyman said yesterday.
"If it pulls up good I'll be ready to go.''
Initially, it was feared Weyman would miss up to two months after damaging his ankle backing up for St George Illawarra against Wests Tigers following the second State of Origin match.
But an intense rehabilitation program including spending time training last week while most of his teammates enjoyed a break has Weyman set to return after missing just two matches.
"I've done everything I can to get back as soon as I can,'' Weyman said. "The Warriors are a pretty good side right across the park so it's just a matter of getting our game right.''
An almost full-strength St George Illawarra side has been named, with Weyman joining fellow State of Origin representatives Darius Boyd, Justin Poore, Ben Creagh and Neville Costigan in the starting side.
Teammates Matt Prior (glandular fever) and Jeremy Smith (ankle) are also set to make their comeback with both players named on an extended bench.
"Right across the park we have a really good squad,'' Weyman said.
"Whoever is thrown into the job it doesn't matter.
"Everyone likes to work really hard for each other.''
New recruit Nathan Fien who played his first game for the Dragons against Manly a fortnight ago will face his former club boosted by the return of captain Steve Price.
Price has been named after missing the Warriors' victory against the Roosters. He had been knocked out in the fiery State of Origin 3 last week.
St George Illawarra head into the match outright competition leaders, two points clear of Canterbury.
