COUSINS Jackson and Zac Mullane could form a permanent partnership in the Southern Districts back line, after playing their part in the first grade team's 34-14 thrashing of Northern Suburbs at Forshaw Park on Saturday.
While the inclusion of No.8 Andrew Maloney, second-rowers Kane Douglas (back from the Under-20 World Championships) and Matt Trouville boosted a powerful pack, the Mullanes showed some class with the ball.
In only their second first grade game together, and their first at home, five-eighth Zac son of former Cronulla Sharks fullback Mick Mullane fed his supports well.
And Jackson Mullane, son of former Sharks centre Greg Mullane, was at his bustling best on the left wing, with another local Matt Raftery returning from injury at fullback and
scoring another try.
With representative front-rowers Nic Henderson, Daniel Palmer and later, Guy Shepardson, making their marks, and Maloney, captain Tim McGann and Jono Hayes profiting, the back line moved into action.
The 20-3 lead at the break got bigger as the day wore on, with winger Andrew Barrett bagging two tries, Trouville and Raftery the others, and half Nathan Sievert kicking well with a total of six goals.
It could easily have been more, and Souths now look likely to take another league convert centre Brackin Henry to Randwick this Saturday.
