Crowds turn out for Shark Island Swim

15 Mar, 2010 04:58 PM
Champion Cronulla lifesaver Chris Allum warmed up for this week's Australian surf lifesaving titles on the Gold Coast by winning an exciting race to the finish of the annual 2.3 kilometre Shark Island swim.

Both Allum and western suburbs swimmer Louis Friees set the early pace and it was the latter who took the lead heading into Cronulla Beach. However Allum showed superior surf skills and grabbed the lead near the shore to win his third title, and the $1000 first prize, with Cazimir Boskovich a close third.
