MONSTER tides are expected this Friday, and photographers are being called on to document the rising waters.
The Witness King Tides project is urging all coastal residents to snap a picture of the rising waters as part of a campaign to document rising seas.
Green Cross Australia is behind the project, and chief executive Mara Bún said unusually high tides allowed coastal residents a glimpse of the impact of flooding caused by rising sea levels.
‘‘Witness King Tides will help us to identify and understand the impacts of rising sea levels on our beaches, coastal areas and shoreline communities,’’ Ms Bún said.
She said about 85 per cent of NSW’s population lives within 50km of the coast.
The king tide is expected to peak about 8.30am on Friday.
