The ladies' dressing pavilion which occupied the southern corner of the beach provided a vital service to women visiting the beach at a time when private spaces were required for changing into swimwear - perhaps unimaginable to those who wander through Cronulla mall in their bikinis today.
The sheds were also an important part of the infrastructure built to lure tourists to this far-flung corner of Sydney.
I look forward to seeing the interpretive signage the council proposes to erect, and hope it conveys a true sense of Cronulla's diverse history and heritage.
