SENIOR high school students are combining school and employment to help further their career options.
Sutherland's Business Education Network helps year 11 and 12 vocational education and training students boost on-the-job training while they complete studies.
The network is a non-profit organisation that helps students gain practical experience by matching them with an employer.
Students complete a 35-hour work placement as part of their HSC requirement.
De La Salle College Cronulla year 12 student Megan Evers did work placement at Kip McGrath Education Centre, Miranda.
The work placements give businesses the opportunity to access potential apprentices or trainees as future employees. Students gain experience in business services.
Megan was offered a job as a casual tuition assistant and then secured a part-time position, which she will manage while studying for her HSC.
