BRADLEY Sharpe of Mortdale (pictured), who suffers from Meniere's hearing disease, will give a talk on how he has had full hearing restored after surgery.
Mr Sharpe, 40, has suffered from single sided deafness for 30 years and has struggled with his hearing throughout both school and his working career.
He found out about a new type of hearing aid made by Cochlear for people who suffer from single sided deafness.
He had surgery for a bone-anchored hearing aid last year which has restored his full hearing.
"I can't believe how much I have missed out on over the past 30 years," Mr Sharpe said.
"It has made a remarkable difference to my life."
Mr Sharpe runs the Meniere's Australia Support Group in St George and Sutherland Shire.
He is hosting a talk on next week by Dr Sean Flanagan of St Vincent's Hospital who performed the surgery.
Dr Flanagan will talk about surgical options for hearing aids — Cochlear's bionic ear and the bone anchored hearing aid.
The meeting will be held at Sutherland United Services Club, 7 East Parade, Sutherland at 10.30am on Saturday, February 23.
Bookings: Bradley Sharpe, 9580 7117 or 043 331 6900.
