PEOPLE curious about Penshurst mosque are invited to come inside and have a look.
They will get to meet the Bosnian community which operates the mosque, ask questions, and enjoy some Bosnian food.
Committee member Enes Topalovic said the mosque was set up in 1987 and was the spiritual home to about 500 families in Sydney.
While believing in the same set of religious principles, Bosnian Muslims came from a different culture to Arabic Muslims.
"People want to know where we come from," Mr Topalovic said.
"We want to open our doors and reach out and get to know one another."
As for the food, there is likely to be chevapcci (a sort of short, skinless sausage), cabbage rolls, salads and Bosnian baklava.
Of course, there will be no alcohol.
The open day will be 11am to 4pm, on Sunday, March 17, at 445 Forest Road, Penshurst.
