FRESH from winning the second of his two Golden Gloves titles, Josh Fitzpatrick has continued to stamp his class on the junior amateur boxing scene.
The Sutherland PCYC fighter won the Australian under-14 38-kilogram division recently.
"Joshua's first fight was a very tough one," dad and trainer Sean said.
"The other kid came from Western Australia and was way more experienced. Joshua was behind for the first two rounds but he came home to take the fight comfortably in the end."
The first fight was Fitzpatrick's most difficult. He progressed to the final to take on a Queenslander, and cruised to victory.
"Josh dominated each round with a standing eight count in the third round," Sean said.
"It was a comfortable win and a Australian title.
"Joshua's boxing has improved massively . . .to go to the Australian titles and winning is a massive achievement to be able to compete, let alone win, at that level."
The Sutherland PCYC head trainer is Brendan Cannon, a former Olympian.
Fitzpatrick spent time with the NSW high performance boxing unit during last year.
Fitzpatrick's clubmate Sam Goodman also won a state title recently.
