Jack Doran, 9, of Loftus, had the time of his life this morning when his dream of meeting the Sydney FC team came true.
It was Wish Day at the Make-A-Wish event, an Australian fund-raiser that helps to raise money to grant wishes to seriously ill children.
Not only was Jack able to meet two of his favourite players — Alessandro Del Piero and Brett Emerton - but he was able to run on to the field with them at Macquarie University’s sports ground, North Ryde.
Jack has had three open heart operations to correct a congenital heart defect.
He has a donor valve which will eventually need to be replaced.
Jack plays football and basketball. His mother Kristen Doran said the family had followed medical advice about Jack’s condition.
‘‘The doctor told us to treat Jack the same as anyone else, and that’s what we do,’’ Ms Doran said.
