A MILESTONE in the campaign to have the Royal National Park granted World Heritage listing by UNESCO will be achieved next week with the launch of The First National Park, a Natural for World Heritage by Geoff Mosley.
The 240-page book is the climax of a three-year campaign by the First National Park group and is published by Sutherland Shire Environment Centre.
Dr Mosley, a geographer and environmental historian, sets out the argument for World Heritage listing by examining the park's unique flora and fauna and outstanding geology and scenery.
First National Park Committee chair Bob Walshe said the campaign was an initiative of Sutherland Shire Environment Centre.
"We are campaigning for the World Heritage listing of the Royal National Park together with the adjacent Heathcote National Park and Garawarra State Conservation Area — three bushland reserves known collectively as the Royal Reserves," Mr Walshe said.
The book will be launched at 6.30pm on Tuesday, April 16, at the Multi Purpose Centre, Flora Street, Sutherland.
