Residents heard an explosion and rushed outside to find three cars on fire last night at Brighton-Le-Sands. St George Police are now treating the matter as suspicious.
Police and Fire and Rescue teams rushed to the scene on Gordon Street about 9.10pm and put out the blaze. The vehicles were parked and unoccupied at the time, and no one was injured.
Two of the three cars were completely destroyed, with the third having only minor damage.
Detectives from St George police called in forensic specialists and are investigating. They have been told a dark sedan was seen near the cars before the fire.
They urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
