A NEW four-storey car park is due to be built at Sutherland Hospital by the end of next year under a $10 million plan unveiled in the budget.
The pay-for-use car park, which would hold 300 to 350 vehicles, could potentially be expanded to seven levels in the future.
It would be located on the hospital's rear boundary, backing on to the railway line.
A fact sheet, produced by Health Infrastructure and released by Cronulla MP Mark Speakman, said parking would be increased in two stages.
An existing, on-grade car park adjoining the proposed multi-storey facility would be extended to accommodate about 200 cars.
This could be completed by early next year.
The fact sheet said the multi-storey car park would be completed later in the year.
It is proposed the car park would be self-funded, supported with user charges and with professional management of operations.
