GLIMPSING Saturn and a talk by Jackie Slaviero, from the US Space Camp, will be highlights of Sutherland Astronomical Society’s annual open days on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17.
Society spokesman Rolando De Michiel said the event cost $20 for a family, $10 for adults and $5 for children.
The US Space Camp is an educational centre that promotes the study of maths, science and technology. It was founded in 1982 in Huntsville, Alabama.
Mr De Michiel said in addition to Saturn, the observatory’s two telescopes should allow good views of the moon and star clusters.
The observatory is at the corner of Green Point and Caravan Head Road, Oyster Bay. Doors open at 6pm. Bookings are not required.
