A woman has been charged with several fraud offences after she allegedly created more than $36 million worth of fraudulent work invoices at a smash repair business at Kirrawee.
The woman, 67, was arrested at Sutherland police station earlier today.Fraud and Cybercrime Squad detectives charged her with five counts of obtaining money by deception, nine counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, 10 counts of knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime and one count of knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime with intent to conceal.
Detectives established Strike Force Canget last August to investigate the business.
A police spokeswoman said the offences related to debt factoring and that the business was no longer operating.
Police said there were 10 victims involved and fraudulent work invoices, totalling $36,889,704, had been created.
The woman was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.
