It's a real estate scam
NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe has warned about a scam letter targeting real estate agents.
A letter, purporting to be from the ATO, asks agency owners to provide details about Australian properties they manage on behalf of non-residents.
The scammers seek to assume the identities of non-residents and sell their properties without the real owners' knowledge. Agents who receive a copy of the scam letter are advised to contact Fair Trading at www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au
