THE new president of Menai and Sutherland Districts Business Chamber, Andrew Manson, has been involved with the chamber since its inception three years ago.
He had been vice-president of Menai and Districts Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Manson, who runs his own business, said the monthly chamber meetings were akin to therapy sessions where small business owners discussed problems and shared tips.
The chamber has members from a variety of industries, including finance, IT and trades..
"We get to see how other small business people do things and what the current economy means to their business," he said.
Mr Manson's presidency coincided with a rise in members and the chamber is always looking for entrepreneurs to join.
"A lot of people think we're a bunch of fat old blokes sitting around smoking pipes but I want to see anyone who's self-sufficient and running their own business, including family businesses, to join," he said.
Members receive discounts on meetings and access to the NSW Business Chamber helpline.
