THE newest sports scene in Sydney could see you dodging, ducking, dipping and diving.
St George and Sutherland Shire residents are invited to enter a team in the dodgeball competition — Ultimate Dodgeball League, Sydney.
A free social game will be held from 2pm this Sunday (January 19) at the Robin Webster Sports Centre, Tempe.
Organiser Michael Wu said that dodgeball was the perfect social sport.
"Dodgeball is a fun and active sport and doesn't require much equipment, only players," Wu said.
"You don't need great fitness and it is easy to learn and fun to play."
It is popular game in the US and Asia, with leagues in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
While the 2004 film Dodgeball inspired a resurgence around the world, Wu has enjoyed playing since primary school.
He said the social game on Sunday was for anyone who was interested.
Teams need a minimum of six players, with at least one female in each.
The competition league will start on March 16, with registrations closing at the end of February.
