Cronulla Sharks will re-sign longer deals with their sponsors but will not entertain a major sponsorship agreement with an adult dating service, Ashley Madison, an online company whose slogan is "Life is short. Have an affair".
It offered the Sharks $11 million over a decade in return for stadium names rights and jersey sponsorship for season 2014.
‘‘We are interested in quality brands but we are not going to sell the very fabric of this club at any cost, even if the offer was $50 million,’’ said Sharks chief executive Steve Noyce in a statement today on the offer valued at more than $10 million.
‘‘It goes against the intrinsic beliefs and values that gives us purpose!’’
The Sharks and development partners recently announced more that $100 million in sales of their unit development to be built beside Woolooware Bay.
Noyce said the club was finalising two ‘‘extensive long term partnerships’’ for the next six years, one of which involved sponsor Carlton and United Brewery (CUB).
